Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku is ‘100% fit’ and available to play for Belgium against Cyprus on Tuesday, according to national team boss Roberto Martinez.

The Red Devils had been sweating on their star forward’s fitness after he damaged his ankle and there were fears he would struggle to return to action for the crunch Premier League clash with Liverpool on Saturday.

Lukaku could now line-up for his country tomorrow, although United supporters may well be hoping that he sits this one out.

Belgium have already secured qualification for the World Cup and their final Group, having won eight of their nine matches, while Cyprus are unable to clinch a play-off spot.

The match is therefore a dead rubber and former Everton boss Martinez may well decide to rotate his squad and give a few of his fringe players a run out.

Jose Mourinho will certainly be hoping that’s the case ahead of what could prove to be a vital match at Anfield this weekend.

United are already seven points clear of their Premier League rivals, with Liverpool languishing down in seventh place in the league.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have failed to keep a clean sheet since August and with Lukaku fit and firing, their wait for a shut-out may well go on.
