Arsenal are closely monitoring the progress of MLS midfielder Miguel Almiron, reports say.

The Paraguay international has attracted the attentions of several high profile clubs after a wonderful start to life in the MLS.

Almiron joined MLS newcomers Atlanta United FC from the Argentinian league in a £12million deal and has been an instant hit.

The 23-year-old has scored nine goals and provided nine assists in 30 appearances for his new side, who have been the surprise package of the MLS season.

Calciomercato claim Arsenal have been watching Almiron’s performances closely, as has Italian giants Inter.

The attacking midfielder has helped Atlanta’s frontman Josef Martinez hit 18 goals and both Inter and Arsenal have been hugely impressed with Almiron’s displays.

Almiron is now considered to be worth as much as £18m which would represent a big investment for a player from the MLS.

Premier League sides rarely dip into the American transfer market and few MLS stars crossing over the Atlantic make a success of themselves in Europe.

A muscle injury has kept Almiron out of his club’s last three games and Paraguay’s last World Cup qualifier.

Paraguay are apart of an exciting climax to South America’s World Cup qualifiers and are just a point behind Argentina who occupy the play-off spot.

Arsenal will need new midfield attackers next summer with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil set to depart the club.

Both players are out of contract in June and will be free to talk to other clubs in January.
