Jurgen Klopp has handed a number of Liverpool youngsters the chance to shine in first-team training ahead of this weekend’s clash with Manchester United.

The Merseyside giants are desperate for three points against their bitter rivals at Anfield following a miserable run of form, with just one victory in seven matches in all competitions.

United, meanwhile, are yet to lose in the Premier League and head to Merseyside off the back of a 4-0 thumping of Crystal Palace at Old Trafford before the international break.

With so many of Liverpool’s players representing their respective nations, several academy stars joined up with Klopp’s first-team at Melwood on Tuesday morning.

The Reds confirmed that Yan Dhanda, Cameron Brannagan and Matty Virtue were in the group – Caoimhin Kelleher and Herbie Kane were also spotted.

Lazar Markovic, who had loan spells at Sporting Lisbon and Hull City last term, joined the likes of Joel Matip, James Milner and Alberto Moreno in the party.

Liverpool are still without Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne this weekend, while Dejan Lovren is a doubt in the lead-up to the match.
