Chelsea have expressed interest in Richmond Boakye and plan to scout the Ghana international during Red Star Belgrade’s Europa League clash with Arsenal.

Boakye, 24, has enjoyed a superb start to the season, scoring six goals in nine games for club and country.

The Ghanaian forward has links with Conte having spent a brief spell at Juventus – Boakye arrived in Turin in the summer of 2012 as a teenager but left two years later without featuring for the first-team.

A series of unsuccessful loan spells suggested Boakye would not realise his obvious potential but he has become a key player at Red Star Belgrade, scoring 12 goals in 16 games for the Serbian outfit last season before signing on a permanent deal in the summer.

And Premier League champions Chelsea will reportedly have scouts in attendance to watch Boakye take on Arsenal in the Europa League next Thursday.

The Gunners will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start in the competition in Serbia, having beaten FC Koln and BATE Borisov last month.

Before their trip to Belgrade, the Gunners face Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday in the Premier League. Conte’s Chelsea, meanwhile, take on bottom-placed Crystal Palace.
