Edward Nketiah has set a new record for Arsenal after scoring twice to rescue Arsene Wenger’s side against Norwich City in the Carabao Cup.

The Gunners appeared to be on course for a humiliating result at the Emirates Stadium as they fell behind through Josh Murphy’s first-half strike.

But Nketiah found the net with five minutes remaining to force extra time.

The 18-year-old forward then popped up with his second of the game to give Arsenal the lead in the first half of extra time.

Nketiah has now become the first player born after Wenger took charge as manager in October 1996 to score a competitive goal for Arsenal.

The youngster began his career in Chelsea’s academy but was released at Under-14 level and subsequently joined the Gunners.
