Charly Musonda has told Chelsea he wants to leave the club in January but a move to Arsenal is set to fall through as they look to nurture Reiss Nelson’s career, reports claim.

The Belgian has grown hugely frustrated at a lack of playing opportunities at Stamford Bridge, having made just four appearances under Antonio Conte this season.

His annoyance has reached boiling point and he has told club chiefs he is eyeing an exit in January, which only adds to Conte’s own miserable situation at present.

The Italian was forced to give his players a dressing down after their humiliating 3-0 loss against Roma in the Champions League and his side are nine points off Premier League leaders Manchester City heading into a crunch clash with Chelsea.

Despite their issues on the pitch, Conte has yet to put real faith in the 21-year-old attacker and he is now desperate to leave, according to the Mirror.

Arsenal were said to be set to make an approach for the winger but their interest is expected to cool due to the rise of young Nelson.

The 17-year-old has been a revelation at the Emirates this season and Gunners chiefs are keen to not block his development by bringing in the Belgium Under-21 international.
