Arsenal qualified for the Europa League knockout stage last night after an uninspiring draw against Red Star Belgrade.

Oliver Giroud and Jack Wilshere had opportunities to seal victory for the Gunners, however Red Star goalkeeper Milan Borjan stopped Giroud’s effort and Wilshere’s effort was cleared off the line.

The Premier League side top Group H with 10 points from four games and Cologne’s 5-2 win over BATE Borisov in the group’s other game means the group’s other qualifying spot is wide open.

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger will be turning his attention to the draw next month and he will hoping to avoid the likes of AC Milan, Lazio and Zenit St Petersburg.

The Gunners could also face tricky opposition, should they qualify for the latter stages of the competition, with Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund all facing the possibility of playing in the Europa League if they finish third in their Champions League groups.

Meanwhile, 10-man Everton’s dismal start to the season continued as they were knocked out of the Europa League with defeat 3-0 at Lyon.
