Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil wants the club to guarantee him Jack Wilshere’s No.10 shirt before signing any new deal with the club.

The Germany international is out of contract at the end of the season and free to agree a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January.

Arsenal had been confident of tying the German down to a new long-term deal given the lack of interest in him last summer but Ozil wants a huge wage increase and is now wanted by Manchester United.

The former Real Madrid man has recently acquired Germany’s No.10 shirt after Lukas Podolski’s retirement and he wants the same at Arsenal to even consider penning a new deal, according to The Sun.

Ozil’s brand is based around the ’10’ shirt and he’s repeatedly spoken about how much he’d like the shirt at the Emirates.

The playmaker was said to be disappointed that the shirt was not made free when WIlshere joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan last season.

Jose Mourinho is keen on signing Ozil and could make a bid in January to avoid an open auction at the end of the season.

United are likely to be able to offer Ozil the No.10 shirt with Zlatan Ibrahimovic expected to move on at the end of the season.
