Luke Shaw is reportedly the fittest player at Manchester United alongside Antonio Valencia.

Jose Mourinho lambasted the left-back for his fitness woes last season and has blocked Shaw’s route back into the starting eleven as a result.

Shaw has yet to play in the Premier League this season and has been a consistent absentee from United’s matchday squads.

But, the Sun claim Shaw has transformed himself into the fittest player’overall’ in the Red Devils squad.

Shaw has worked hard to get back into Mourinho’s good books and has been staying late at Carrington to work on his fitness.

The defender was pictured training with the rest of the United first-team on Monday, but did not travel with the squad to London later that day.

United take on Watford on Tuesday night, but Shaw will not be involved and has played just 48 minutes for his side this season.

Those minutes came in the EFL Cup, but Shaw has managed to make the bench for the last two Champions League games.

Ashley Young has been Mourinho’s first-choice left-back at United and Shaw remains behind the Englishman and Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind in the full-back pecking order.

Shaw should have the chance to get some playing time in the coming month with a hectic festive schedule ahead.

United play Watford on Tuesday and then take on Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday.
