Ian Wright believes Mesut Ozil will move to Manchester United in the near future.

The Arsenal attacker has been repeatedly linked with a switch to Old Trafford as Ozil refuses to sign a new deal at the Emirates.

Ozil’s contract expires in the summer and it has been suggested Arsenal could cash in on the German in January.

Jose Mourinho has not commented publicly on Ozil, but it is reported he is eager to reunite with the former Real Madrid star.

Wright has now offered some insight into the potential transfer and believes the move will happen.

He told the BBC: ‘Mesut Ozil to Manchester United on a free looks a shoo-in. I’m sure Jose would love to do that.

‘That would frighten me to death. He is a great talent and having great players around him would lift him up as well.

‘I’m sure him and his agent would not push it this far if they were going to sign (for Arsenal).’

Ozil was left out of the squad that faced Burnley on Sunday with Arsene Wenger insisting he suddenly fell ill.

The goalscorer traveled with the squad to Burnley, but was then sent back to London by the Arsenal medical team.
