Jose Mourinho was delighted with the performance of Victor Lindelof in Manchester United’s 4-2 victory over Watford.

Lindelof, who joined the Red Devils with a big reputation during the summer transfer window, struggled in his opening matches at the club but the centre-back now appears to be adapting to the English game.

The Swede has started United’s last three matches in the Premier League and kept Watford’s Richarlison quiet at Vicarage Road  – a feat which very few defenders have managed this season.

Ashley Young, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard stole the headlines with their goals in the away fixture, and Mourinho praised the trio, but the Portuguese also hailed Lindelof following the win.

Mourinho knew all about Richarlison in the lead-up to Tuesday night’s clash and was impressed with Lindelof’s performance against the Brazilian.

‘I think Richarlison is a very good player and a difficult player to play against,’ the Portuguese said following United’s win.

‘But Victor is very fast and he’s adapted to play centrally but also to go to the sides because he’s got the agility that many of the central defenders don’t have.

‘I think it was another very positive performance by Victor.’
