Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring for Arsenal in the side’s home clash with Huddersfield – but it was all about Aaron Ramsey’s assist in the build-up.

The Gunners went into the Emirates match with confidence off the back of a last-gasp victory away at Burnley at the weekend and Arsene Wenger’s men flew out of the blocks on Wednesday night.

It took Lacazette only three minutes to find the net versus Huddersfield, the Frenchman’s fifth goal in the Premier League at the Emirates this term.

No player in the English top flight has scored more home goals this season and the striker immediately thanked Ramsey for his incredible through ball which dissected the Terriers’ defence.

The Welshman, who has impressed in recent matches alongside Granit Xhaka, delicately flicked the ball perfectly into the path of the forward.

Wenger emphasised the importance of a confident start in the moments leading up to kick-off at the Emirates.

He said: ‘Our start is important because we were strong recently at home in the last three or four months and that’s because we started well.

‘That’s important and then, after that, we can’t allow counter attacks, must be alert on set pieces.

‘It’s funny – I watched them versus reading in playoff final. It was a tense game. They showed they have nerves.

‘They have started very well this season. I watched them against Man City when we were travelling back and they played very well. We know we were warned, this is a difficult game.’
