Man City’s incredible winning run in the Premier League continues thanks to a stunning injury time winner from Raheem Sterling

Pep Guardiola’s side were on an 11-match winning streak ahead of their home game with Southampton on Wednesday.

Fully expected to maintain their winning run, Southampton had other ideas and managed to hold the score at the Etihad at 1-1 heading into injury time.

Kevin de Bruyne had opened the scoring early in the second half but Oriol Romeu levelled it up on 75 minutes.

With their winning run looking to be over, Sterling curled a stunning shot into the top corner from outside the box in the fourth and final minute of injury time.

The England international has made a habit of getting his side out of trouble this season, with late winners against Bournemouth and West Brom.

The victory saw Guardiola’s team extend their lead at the top of the table back to eight points and sees their winning streak stretched to 12.

It means they are now just one short of Arsenal and Chelsea’s shared record of 13 consecutive wins in a single season.

If they beat West Ham at home on Sunday they will match it.

Should they do that, they could then look to match Arsenal’s record of 14 consecutive wins which was stretched over two different seasons. To do that, they would have to win the Manchester derby at Old Trafford on December 10.
