Sergio Ramos is among the stars showing support for Santi Cazorla after the Arsenal star revealed he has suffered a fresh set-back in his battle with injury.

The Spanish midfielder let it be known he has undergone another operation having already been under the knife multiple times.

Having not played since last October, it was hoped he could return to action in January. But that is now looking unlikely.

Cazorla wrote on Twitter: ‘There is some discomfort in the tendon that has emerged over the last few days.

‘I have had to undergo surgery. It is delaying the date of my return to the training ground.

‘I maintain the dream and motivation to enjoy my great passion of soccer.’

The development will be a huge blow for Cazorla but his Spanish team-mate Ramos is doing his best to keep his spirits up.

The Real Madrid star tweeted a message of support which read: ‘Friend, soccer is in debt to you. Head high and cheer up. We’re with you. Lots of encouragement and a strong hug, bro @19SCazorla!’

Liverpool star Alberto Moreno also offered his support, telling Cazorla to ‘never give up.’
