Paul Pogba has aimed a light-hearted dig at Benjamin Mendy ahead of Manchester United’s derby clash with Manchester City next weekend.

While Pogba is set to lead Jose Mourinho’s midfield at Old Trafford on December 10, Mendy will miss the match after he ruptured the cruciate ligament in his knee in September.

But despite his injury, which has ruled him out for the majority of the season, Mendy was seen hopping at speed down the touchline to celebrate with his City teammates after Raheem Sterling’s late winner against Southampton.

In an interview with SFR Sport, Pogba urged his France teammate to recover quickly and made light of the left-back’s decision to join in with City’s celebrations on Wednesday evening.

‘Ben, calm your heart, calm your heart. Get some rest, and come back,’ Pogba said.

‘We see you run when you [City] score… but you are injured, aren’t you? What are doing?! You’d better rest.

‘And my friend, come back.

‘Wishing you a lot of happiness, wishing you all the health, and I hope that you will come back soon, and that you will make your team lose!’
