Manchester United are reportedly ready to end their interest in Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale – unless a cut-price deal can be agreed.

Jose Mourinho has held interest in the Wales forward for many years and United have been linked with a stunning move as his Real career continues to hit stumbling blocks.

It is claimed the La Liga giants are ready to sell Bale as they attempt to raise fees to sign Neymar and Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne.

Bale is a three-time Champions League winner and Real will refuse to be forced to sell him on the cheap, with the Daily Mirror saying they want £100million for the former Tottenham man.

It is claimed this figure is not acceptable for United, who believe Bale’s age and recurring injury problems mean his value is around £50m-£60m, on par with goalkeeper David De Gea.

Bale marked his return from a two-month injury lay-off last Tuesday but missed Saturday’s La Liga clash with Athletic Bilbao with a minor calf problem.

The 29-year-old started his career at Southampton and was signed by Real in 2013 after an impressive spell at White Hart Lane.

Mourinho’s United clinched a fine 3-1 victory over Premier League rivals Arsenal on Saturday to temporarily close the gap on leaders City to five points.
