Ivan Perisic scored a remarkable hat-trick in a 5-0 win against Chievo Verona to send Inter top of Serie A.
The winger has been consistently linked with a transfer to Manchester United with Jose Mourinho reportedly making several bids for Perisic in the summer.
Speculation swirling around Perisic will only increase after the Croatia international’s incredible start to the season.
Inter welcomed Chievo to the San Siro on Sunday and were inspired to a five-star display by Perisic.
Perisic smashed in Inter’s first with a beautiful volley and then scored their third with a super solo run.
A reactive snap shot in the box completed Perisic’s hat-trick and fired Inter to the top of the table.
Inter are a point ahead of Napoli and remain unbeaten in the Serie A season.
Perisic has been the star man for his side with seven goals and six assists in 15 appearances.
Inter flat out refused to do business with United in the summer and instead worked to tie the left-winger down to a new long-term term.
The Italians’ resistance paid off as the window closed and Perisic signed a new deal that extended his stay until 2022.
Mourinho is still desperate to sign a left-sided winger in the coming winter window and could return for Perisic.
But, the 28-year-old’s superb form will make him a costly addition and significantly raise his price tag.
Inter were believed to be demanding a fee in the region of £50million in the summer and will believe their star man is now worth much more than that figure.
