Manchester City have progressed to the last 16 of the Champions League as group winners despite a shock defeat away to Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday night.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been in formidable form this season, but their unbeaten run was finally halted in Kharkiv thanks to goals from Bernard and Ismaily.

Ultimately, though, the match had no bearing on City’s Champions League campaign, and they will be seeded for the last-16 draw, where they could be drawn against some massive sides…

WHO CAN MAN CITY FACE?

Group winners/seeded

Manchester United
Paris Saint-Germain
Roma
Barcelona
Liverpool
MANCHESTER CITY
Besiktas
Tottenham

Group runners-up/unseeded

Basel
Bayern Munich
Chelsea
Juventus
Sevilla
Shakhtar Donetsk
Porto
Real Madrid

Manchester City cannot draw another team from England or their own group, so they avoid both Chelsea and Shakhtar Donetsk in the next round. They can, however, face German champions Bayern Munich, Italian champions Juventus and Spanish champions Real Madrid, all of whom would prove a stern test.

WHEN IS THE DRAW?

The draw will take place in Nyon, Switzerland, on Monday 11 December. The first legs will be played on 13, 14, 20 and 21 February, and the second legs will be played on 6, 7, 13 and 14 March 2018.
