Rio Ferdinand admits he still gets nightmares from playing against ‘fantastic’ Chelsea forward Eden Hazard.

Belgium international Hazard has emerged as one of the stars of the Premier League since signing for Chelsea from Lille in 2012.

The 26-year-old has been named in the PFA Team of the Year on four separate occasions and helped the Blues win two titles in the last three years.

Hazard has enjoyed an outstanding start to the current campaign and Ferdinand admits he dreaded the prospect of coming up against him on the pitch.

Asked how he enjoyed playing against Hazard, the former Manchester United and England defender told BT Sport: ‘I didn’t, I still remember and I still get nightmares.

‘I used to just be happy he was staying wide at that point… under [Jose] Mourinho he stayed very much on the left-hand side so didn’t really come into my area which was a blessing.

‘But now we’re seeing him all over the frontline – he’s fantastic to watch and he’s the man that really makes this Chelsea team tick.’
