Manchester United have made wantaway Juventus star Alex Sandro their number one target for the January transfer window, according to reports.

Jose Mourinho has been given an £80million war-chest to spend on signings in January and it’s understood the United boss is desperate to bring a left-back to Old Trafford.

Tottenham’s Danny Rose remains firmly on Mourinho radar, but Alex Sandro’s determination to leave Juve in the new year has put the Red Devils on red alert.

The Daily Record suggest United have stepped up their interest in the 26-year-old Brazilian and have made him their priority target to boost their chances of catching Manchester City this season.

Chelsea appeared to be closing in on a deal for Alex Sandro during the summer transfer window but the full-back’s move to Stamford Bridge never materialised.

It’s claimed United will listen to offers for both Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian in January.

Darmian has only made two Premier League starts for United this term, while Shaw’s three appearances have come in the EFL Cup and Champions League.

Tottenham defender Rose, United’s alternative option for January, fueled rumours of a move to Old Trafford by slamming Spurs’ wage structure.

‘I don’t know how much longer I might have at this level,’ he told The Sun.

‘I’m not going to be stupid enough not to try and get the most out of it: medals, trophies and salary.

‘Anyone who thinks this is primarily for money, that is not the case. But I know what I am worth.

‘As with everyone else in my team, in my opinion, I am worth more than I am getting.’
