Romelu Lukaku was prominently involved in the 20-man brawl after the Manchester derby, while former Arsenal star Mikel Arteta left the stadium with a cut on his head, reports claim.

The row began with Jose Mourinho arguing furiously with Manchester City goalkeeper Edison in Portuguese about time wasting, before the Manchester United boss screamed in English: ‘You f***ing show respect. Who are you?’

As others joined in the fracas and it began to escalate, Belgian front man Lukaku was at the centre of the melee, according to the Guardian, while City coach Arteta was cut.

The scenes were described as being reminiscent of a pub fight but it is said to be a much more serious incident than the ‘Battle of the Buffet’ where Arsenal and United players threw pizza slices at one another in 2004.

After police calmed the situation, Mourinho stormed into the referee’s room to voice his frustrations at Michael Oliver over the lack of penalty given to Ander Herrera after an alleged trip from Nicolas Otamenti.

Mourinho then carried out his media duties and showed no signs of being involved in any sort of row, nor did he appear to need to dry himself off after allegedly being covered with milk and water.

City players had annoyed the Portuguese tactician after he perceived them to be celebrating excessively after their 2-1 win at Old Trafford opened up the gap at the top of the Premier League to 11 points.
