Chelsea view long-term target Leon Bailey as a potential replacement for Willian who continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United.

Scoring five goals and providing four assists this season, Bailey has developed into a key player for Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen since his £12million move from Genk last January.

Bailey has long been watched by Premier League clubs and Chelsea face competition from London rivals Arsenal to secure his signature in January, according to the Daily Mirror.

His form has helped Leverkusen climb to sixth in the German top-flight and a number of clubs in Italy and Spain are also believed to be monitoring the situation.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reportedly views a £15million investment for Jamaica U23 winger Bailey as good business but Chelsea will hope to win the transfer battle.

Antonio Conte has made it clear that he was left underwhelmed by Chelsea’s transfer business last summer as the club missed out on a number of targets.

The Blues are expected to make multiple moves in January and Bailey, it has been suggested, could be a long-term replacement for Brazilian Willian.

Willian, who joined Chelsea four years ago, has been repeatedly linked with a move to Man United with Jose Mourinho keen to secure a reunion with the 29-year-old.
