Manchester United are ready to offer Mesut Ozil an £8million signing on fee in order to avoid paying Arsenal any money to land the German, reports claim.
The Red Devils are among the sides chasing the 29-year-old, with Gunners chiefs keen to offload him in January should he not sign a new deal.
Arsenal have offered him a £4m signing on fee as part of the package they’ve put together but Ozil’s representatives are chasing twice as much money for their client to sign.
And United are ready to step up and offer the World Cup winner the full fee, according to the Daily Star.
Jose Mourinho knows in the current market that an £8m fee is nothing compared to the large sums paid to bring top players to Old Trafford and he’s keen for Ozil to join at the end of the season on a free transfer.
Wenger remains confident that both Ozil and Alexis Sanchez will stay and is keen for Arsenal not to sell him in the winter window, despite the risk of losing him for free.
Mourinho is keen for a similar situation but hopes that Ozil won’t commit his future at the Emirates but jumps ship to Old Trafford on a free.
