Louis van Gaal admitted he is unlikely to take on a new club job in his management career, unless he is offered the opportunity to take over a ‘big’ Premier League club in order for him to get revenge on Manchester United.

The Dutch coach was removed from his position at Old Trafford just days after winning the FA Cup, with Jose Mourinho lined up to replace him.

Van Gaal has been out of work since leaving his post at the Premier League giants and recently claimed he was uninterested in managing Borussia Dortmund because they were a ‘small club’.

The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona boss also ruled himself out of the running at Everton, before Sam Allardyce took charge at Goodison Park, and he has now admitted he’s unlikely to continue in club management.

However, he would make an exception should he get the opportunity to ‘get one over on Manchester United’ by joining one of the Premier League’s elite clubs.

‘I will probably not manage a club anymore,’ he admitted.

Van Gaal bemoaned United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward’s handling of his exit, with Mourinho essentially hired before the Dutchman was let go.

‘Woodward should have come to me and we could have worked on that,’ he added.

‘I have nothing against Jose.’
