Ian Wright believes Alexis Sanchez has ‘clocked off’ at Arsenal and thinks a January exit wouldn’t ‘hurt’ the Gunners.

The Chile international was heavily linked with a summer switch to Manchester City but a deadline day move fell through and he stayed at the Emirates.

He’s since scored just four Premier League goals in 15 appearances and Wright believes he’s not working hard enough.

The Arsenal legend pointed to the examples of Philippe Coutinho and Mesut Ozil – who are both thought to be keen on leaving Liverpool and Arsenal respectively – as players who are hitting the levels that Sanchez should be aspiring towards despite wanting out.

And he thinks potential buyers may be put off by his poor attitude this season.

‘Sanchez looks to me like he’s clocked off,’ he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

‘Sanchez’s attitude is saying a lot about him. If he left in January, the way he’s playing now, I can’t see how that’s going to hurt Arsenal. He’s not playing well enough.

‘He’s not putting in a shift. Coutinho wanted to leave; he put in a transfer request but look at the way he’s playing.

‘Look at the way Ozil is playing. You’ve got to still put it in. He’s not putting it in. It says a lot about him.

‘People looking in who are potential buyers, what are they thinking about him and his attitude?

‘I can’t see Ozil staying but what we’re seeing from him now is the kind of play that we want to see from him.’
