Sead Kolasinac is frustrated with Arsene Wenger over his recent omission from Arsenal’s starting line-ups, according to reports.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has played on the left side of Arsenal’s defence for their last two Premier League fixtures, while Kolasinac stayed on the bench as an unused substitute.

The summer signing from Schalke made his return in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over West Ham in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on Tuesday evening.

But he was back on the bench once again for Arsenal’s clash with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night.

And according to Goal, Kolasinac is unhappy with Wenger’s sudden decision to drop him.

The report also claims that Wenger prefers Maitland-Niles, who is a right-footed player, in the left-back position as he feels the 20-year-old performs better in a back four.

Speaking earlier this month, Wenger praised Maitland-Niles’ versatility and believes there’s more to come from the 20-year-old.

‘I believe he is the future. He can play left back, right back, central midfield. Of the three positions, maybe the least natural for him is left back, but he adapts very quickly and is a good defender,’ said the Arsenal manager.

‘He’s a good character. Sometimes he lacked a little bit of belief in his own qualities but he has top defensive qualities as well.

‘Sometimes he plays a little bit with the handbrake on and you think that there’s more in this guy than what he shows, and that he plays inhibited.

‘Slowly I hope I’ve pushed him to get a bit more out on the other side of the game.’
