Manchester United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is aware of speculation surrounding his future but remains ‘happy’ at Lazio, according to his manager Simone Inzaghi.

Milinkovic-Savic, who made his international debut for Serbia earlier in the year, has become a key player for Lazio since signing from Genk in 2015, scoring 18 goals in 96 appearances.

The 22-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League this year, with Jose Mourinho said to be willing to sanction a club-record £95million move to land his signature.

Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are also believed to be keeping tabs on the midfielder but Lazio boss Inzaghi has attempted to downplay the rumours over his future.

‘He is 22 and doing really well, so attracting interest is normal,’ Inzaghi said of Milinkovic-Savic. ‘I speak with him a lot, though. He is happy here.

‘He is happy with Lazio, and he is aware that if teams like that are interested in him, then it will be down to Lazio [if he leaves].

‘I’m happy if there is interest in our players. It proves that we’re doing well, but at the moment he’s very happy at Lazio. Last year he signed a new long-term contract with us.’

Inzaghi also heaped praise on the Serbian star and said he hopes he becomes even better than Manchester United and France superstar Paul Pogba.

‘We are speaking of a really young player who has both quality and physicality, whereas most of the time players have one or the other,’ he added.

‘So he is highly regarded and I hope he becomes even better than Pogba, who is most definitely one of the best.’
