Arsenal are in pole position to complete a transfer deal for Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey, according to reports.

Manchester United, Chelsea and the Gunners expressed an interest in Bailey in the summer, but the promising 20-year-old winger joined Leverkusen on a five-year deal ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

The Jamaican has had a sensational start in Germany and his performances have put the Premier League clubs on red alert once again.

According to The Daily Mirror, Arsenal are leading the chase for Bailey after overtaking their bitter rivals, Chelsea, in a fierce transfer race.

It’s understood the Blues have already had an £22million offer rejected for the youngster and are likely to turn their attentions to Ross Barkley and Thomas Lemar in January.

Arsenal watched Bailey play twice last week and were impressed with what they saw at Hannover and Borussia Moenchengladbach – where the forward scored the winner.

Arsene Wenger is ready to sanction a £30m move for the Leverkusen star as he looks for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s long-term replacement at the Emirates.

The north London giants are also preparing for the departure of Alexis Sanchez, with Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germian and Chelsea queuing for the Chile attacker.
