Danny Rose sent Tottenham fans into meltdown as Spurs’ squad posed for a photograph to celebrate Harry Kane’s record-breaking achievement on Boxing Day.

The 27-year-old left-back is being heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in January after publicly criticising the wage structure in place at Tottenham in the summer.

It’s understood United are confident of wrapping up a £50million deal for Rose, but the England star appeared to send out a defiant message following Spurs’ 5-2 defeat of Southampton.

Kane’s hat-trick at Wembley saw him break Alan Shearer’s record for the most Premier League goals in a calendar year and the striker’s team-mates gathered for a photograph in the dressing room after his achievement.

While the likes of Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-min pointed at the record-breaking Kane, Rose tellingly pointed at Spurs’ crest on his chest.

Jose Mourinho is looking to bring in reinforcements at full-back in January after losing faith in both Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian.

Rose is United’s number one target at left-back, while Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon and Juventus’ Alex Sandro remain firmly on Mourinho’s radar.

In the summer, Rose fueled rumours of a move away from Spurs, stating: ‘I know my worth and I will make sure I get what I am worth.

‘I am reaching my peak and have probably only got one big contract left in me.

‘Time is running out and I do want to win trophies. I don’t want to play football for 15 years and not have one trophy or one medal.

‘I’m not saying I want out but if something came to me that was concrete, I’d have no qualms about voicing my opinions to anyone at the club.’
