Manchester United have opened the bidding for Juventus playmaker Paulo Dybala by offering £70million plus midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Jose Mourinho is desperate to add flair to his side and has identified Argentina international Dybala as his number one target.

The 24-year-old has lit up Serie A this term, scoring 17 goals in 26 appearances for the Old Lady in all competitions.

Juventus want to keep hold of the forward but Dybala is midway through his third season in Turin and wants a new challenge next season.

United had looked at Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann last summer but the Red Devils have turned their attention to Dybala and have placed a bid of around £70m plus Mkhitaryan.

The Sun claim Juventus have turned United’s opening bid down and are holding out for closer to £90m.

The Serie A giants are not believed to be keen on a deal involving Mkhitaryan, which is a further blow to the Armenian.

Mkhitaryan, 28, is out of favour under Mourinho and last started for the club in a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on November 5th.

Should United not receive a suitable offer in January, they will hold onto Mkhitaryan in the summer and sell to the highest bidder.
