Shkodran Mustafi stepped in as Jack Wilshere was pressed on his fitness levels following Arsenal’s 3-2 victory at Crystal Palace.

Wilshere started in the side’s 3-3 draw with Liverpool last week and played the full 90 minutes as the Gunners held off a late charge from Palace at Selhurst Park on Thursday evening.

The England midfielder provided a superb assist for Alexis Sanchez’s second goal in the 66th minute and was widely praised for his performance.

Following Arsenal’s win, Wilshere was asked: ‘Another game under your belt…are you back to your old best yet?’

‘They love that question,’ Mustafi responded after a brief pause from Wilshere.

The Englishman insists he’s enjoying his football despite the fact he’s yet to sign a new deal at the Emirates.

He continued: ‘I was happy with my form last year but I’m probably better now.

‘I feel better, I feel fitter and getting better each game.

‘I’m enjoying my football. It’s another game and another three points so I’m happy.’
