Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has announced that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be on the sidelines for one month with an injury.

Ibrahimovic has scored one goal since returning for his second spell at Old Trafford but is yet to find the net in the Premier League and was not named in Mourinho’s squad to face Southampton.

The Swedish forward suffered a devastating ACL injury towards the end of United’s 2016/17 campaign and there are fears the new problem could be linked.

With Romelu Lukaku being forced off with a head injury on Saturday evening, Mourinho could be facing an injury crisis up front ahead of the side’s matches with Everton and Derby.

Asked about Ibrahimovic’s absence after the goalless draw with Southampton, Mourinho told BT Sport: ‘Zlatan – one month out.

‘A massive problem. He is a 37-year-old with a bad knee,’ the Portuguese later added.

The Red Devils boss claimed that he is happy with his current squad at Old Trafford ahead of the January transfer window.

‘I don’t know,’ Mourinho replied when asked if he will bring in new recruits.

‘But I’m happy with my players’ attitude, desire and i have no complaints about my place.’
