Leon Goretzka and Schalke have denied the midfielder has decided to join Bayern Munich.

The German has been the subject of intense transfer speculation and is free to speak to other clubs this January, as his Schalke deal expires in the summer.

Premier League trio Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are believed to be competing with the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern and Barcelona for Goretzka’s signature.

Reports from Spain claimed over the weekend Goretzka had his heart set on joining Bayern, but the player’s agent, Jorg Neubauer, has now rubbished those stories.

He said: ‘When the decision has been made, Leon and I will inform Schalke first of all.’

Goretzka’s agent’s comments line up with the ones made by Schalke’s sporting director Christian Heidel.

Heidel too denied Goretzka had informed the club of any decision.

‘Leon has not informed us so far that he has decided to leave us,’ Heidel told Sport 1.

‘I trust Leon and his agent, with whom I was in contact yesterday [Sunday].’

Schalke are desperate for Goretzka to stay at the club and have offered to make him their best ever paid player.

But, the 22-year-old seems set to make a move elsewhere as one of the hottest prospects in the Bundesliga.

Jurgen Klopp is keen to convince Goretzka to join him at Anfield with the Liverpool boss set to lose Emre Can to Juventus in the summer.

And Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger are equally eager to add Goretzka’s talents to their squads.

Schalke could still decide to cash in on Goretzka in January should the Germany international inform them he will leave in the summer.
