Manchester United’s efforts to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal have been held up due to Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to reports in Chile.

Jose Mourinho’s side are favourites to land Sanchez ahead of Manchester City having offered the forward the chance to become the highest-paid player in the Premier League.

United are also willing to offer a highest transfer fee to Arsenal than what City are prepared to pay.

On Sunday, reports claimed that Sanchez had reached an agreement with United over the terms of his deal.

But according to El Mercurio, the transfer has not been finalised due to United’s decision to include Mkhitaryan in the deal.

Arsenal have been given the chance to sign the United midfielder but El Mercurio claims that the 28-year-old is ‘not very enthralled’ by the prospect of joining Arsene Wenger’s side.

Mourinho has already admitted he is open to United selling Mkhitaryan, who has played just 202 minutes in all competitions in the last two months.
