Dortmund boss Peter Stoger has put Arsenal’s move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in jeopardy by revealing the Bundesliga club want to keep the Gabon international.

The Gunners were thought to be closing in on a £53million move for the former AC Milan ace as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who could be headed to Manchester United.

Aubemayang was left out of Dortmund’s clash with Wolfsburg on the weekend after skipping a team meeting and club director Michael Zorc hinted they would sell the striker because his actions had become ‘intolerable.

However, Stoger has poured cold water on the recent speculation that he’s set to move to the Emirates by claiming Aubameyang is in his plans for the remainder of the season.

‘For me it is just logical [that Aubameyang stays],’ said Stoger.

‘I expect everything to be as it was. He is a player of BVB, he trains and he is in our plans for the upcoming match.’

Asked if the striker would be punished with extra training, Stoger replied: ‘No, if that was a punishment, I would have been there [on the training field] and would be watching him.

‘I have the feeling that he is a very stubborn character and is also ambitious. I guess he understood [being dropped]. Let’s see how it develops in the next days.’

Arsenal’s move for the Gabon international is being pushed by newly-appointed head of recruitment Sven Mislintat.

Though Wenger has concerns about Aubameyang’s temperament, Mislintat believes the forward perfectly suits Arsenal’s style of play and would curb his attitude problems under the Frenchman.
