Mauricio Pochettino has dismissed questions about Fernando Llorente’s future at Tottenham amid transfer links to Chelsea.

The Blues were thought to have made an enquiry for the Spurs striker as Antonio Conte continues to hunt for a striker this month.

Chelsea have been linked with a host of powerful forwards, including Andy Carroll, but Pochettino insisted no one at the club had informed him the Blues want to sign Llorente.

He said: ‘I did not hear anything. No one said nothing to me about it. That is a rumour from the media.’

Pochettino was speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Southampton on Sunday.

Chelsea tried to sign Llorente when he was still a Swansea player, but the Spaniard decided to join Tottenham last summer.

Llorente has found life at Tottenham difficult and has played second fiddle to Harry Kane.

Kane has continued his remarkable scoring streak for Spurs and Llorente is currently behind Son Heung-min, who is also in superb form.

Llorente has started just one league game this season, but recently got off the mark for Spurs in the league when he scored against his former club, Swansea.

The 32-year-old has scored just one other goal this campaign, in the Champions League, and could be tempted away from the club for more game time.

However, Conte is searching for a back-up striker to Alvaro Morata and Llorente could find life equally difficult at Stamford Bridge as at Tottenham.
