Manchester United are facing a striker shortage with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku facing spells on the sidelines.

The Swede faces a month out after he was not named in the squad for United's 0-0 draw with Southampton.

He is believed to have suffered a problem with his knee, having been out for eight months for the same reason earlier this year.

And Lukaku is set to miss Monday's game against Everton and Friday's FA Cup clash with Derby.

The Belgian had missed a glaring opportunity just moments before, heading Juan Mata's cross over the crossbar.

Lukaku went up for a header with Saints defender Wesley Hoedt and clashed heads before appearing to land awkwardly.

He was down on the pitch for several minutes before being carried off by medics to rapturous applause from all four sides of Old Trafford.

“He is a 37-year-old with a bad knee,” was manager Jose Mourinho's assessment of Ibrahimovic.

He added: “We don't have any news about Lukaku yet. We will know tomorrow.

“But the way he had to leave the pitch showed he has a problem and I think we will be without him for the next two matches.”
