Manchester City continued their impressive form as they swatted aside Arsenal in a Sunday afternoon stroll.

Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring in the first half, driving the ball beyond Petr Cech and into the far corner of the net.

Any hopes Arsenal had of a second-half comeback were dashed when Nacho Monreal conceded a penalty after barging into Raheem Sterling.

Sergio Aguero converted the spot kick to double City 's advantage before Alexandre Lacazette pulled one back with a driven effort through Ederson's legs.

But any hopes of a comeback were soon ended when Gabriel Jesus converted a pass from the offside David Silva.

Here, we rate the players from both sides...

MANCHESTER CITY

Ederson 6

One ugly fumble and a concession through the legs. Scruffy

Walker 6

Not as prominent going forward as usual but pretty steady

Stones 7

Maturing in a purely defensive sense with every passing game

Otamendi 7

Booked. The aberrations are being kept to a minimum. Looks far more solid

Delph 7

Clearly relishing the role that has unexpectedly come his way

Fernandinho 7

More of a creative input than usual and remains a vital cog in this machine

De Bruyne 9

MOTM. Gets the nod as star man for his breakthrough goal. Usual class

D Silva 8

Not quite at his magical best but not far off. A ball-whisperer

Sterling 7

Mixed bag, a poor pass to Sane the lowlight but always lively

Aguero 6

Took his penalty well for goal number 179 but a little off the pace

Sane 7

Frightening to think how much improvement he has left in him

Leroy Sane continues to impress (

Cech 6

No glaring errors just a faint suspicion he is on the final stretch

Bellerin 6

Pinned by Sane’s rapidity, a very hard day at the office

Koscielny 6

Booked. Cynically took out De Bruyne at one stage but couldn’t be blamed for that

Coquelin 5

Seemed a desperate measure to include him and it didn’t work

Monreal 6

Booked. Unlucky but fairly naive in giving away the penalty

Kolasinac 6

Made a contribution going forward but severely lacking defensively

Xhaka 5

Booked. Cautioned for dissent but his own performance nothing to shout about

Granit Xhaka made little impression in midfield (

Iwobi 6

One of many to give away possession far too easily right from the off

Ramsey 6

Full marks for persistence in the face of some pretty forgettable moments

Ozil 6

Booked. Nothing much came off but still looked likely to conjure danger

Sanchez 5

Booked. Decent audition for a City move, found a blue shirt with almost every pass
