Manchester City never lose to West Brom and nothing has changed.

The Baggies made a bit of a fight of it for a while in the second half, but unbeaten leaders City swamped them.

City have now pulled the Baggies shorts down the last 12 times they have met in the league- and they’ve won at The Hawthorns in the Carabao Cup this season to add to the misery.

Mostly it was as one-sided as expected with West Brom slipping closer to trouble with only three wins in their last 22 games, taking in last season’s slump as well.

Sub Raheem Sterling’s 65th minute goal was the pick of City’s three, tucking the ball home from Kyle Walker’s pass at the end of a swift, sweeping move.

That ended Albion’s slim hopes of a successful fightback.

The game blitzed into life with three goals in the opening 15 miunutes.

Leroy Sane started it, adding to the two he got against West Brom in the Carabao Cup, in ten minutes with a bending left foot shot.

Jay Rodriguez won a battle with John Stones and keeper Ederson to reach Garry Barry’s well placed long pass and equalise three minutes later, but there was only ever going to be one team winning.

Fernandinho took two minutes to restore the lead, his 30 yarder getting a deflection off Ahmed Hegazi and the post to beat Ben Foster.

A late Matt Phillips goal came too late for the hosts.

Manchester City

What a whirlwind start to the game.

City took the lead, lost it then regained it!

Starting to steady down now but this game could go either way.

Welcome..

Premier League pace-setters Manchester City look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season when they travel to the Hawthorns to take on Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s men sit five points ahead of their cross-town rivals United and will likely welcome back a host of first-team regulars to starting XI after making nine chances for the Carabao Cup win over Wolves midweek. Ederson, Nicolas Otamendi and Kevin de Bruyne and expected to return.

Skipper Vincent Kompany is still absent, but should be back in training in the next ten days, while fellow defender Benjamin Mendy remains on the sidelines.

Craig Dawson and James Morrison are both out for the hosts, but Hal Robson-Kanu and Oliver Burke could both return.

The Baggies sit in 13th place in the table following their 1-0 loss to Southampton and have not won in the league since the second game of the season.

We’ve fallen down on things in games that we haven’t before,” said Baggies boss Tony Pulis. “There are times when it’s difficult but you have to continue to believe in what you’re doing.

“You’re only one or two results away from it clicking. That breeze is blowing a bit stronger so you have to lift your head and keep walking.”

So whack on the kettle, get settled and we’ll bring you all the action from the Hawthorns as it happens.
