Ahmed Hegazi is only on loan from Egyptian club Al Ahly- but he’s made an instant impression on Baggies fans.

His 30th minute header was the first goal Albion fans had seen at home from their team in five games.

Not only that, this was only Albion’s second win, home or away, since February.

Since the win over Bournemouth the last time they were here in fact.

No wonder Hegazi jumped and danced in the air after heading in Chris Brunt’s 30th minute corner.

It wasn’t as if Bournemouth didn’t know what was coming, virtually all Albion’s goals come from set pieces, but no-one challenged Hegazi as he met the ball with his head.

Hegazi also had a shot that went over but then retreated to his job in the centre of West Brom’s defence to see what Bournemouth had to offer.

The answer was wasn’t a lot. The Cherries had a lot of the ball but little threat, even when Jemain Defoe came on for the last 37 minutes.

Jay Rodriguez looked a class act for West Brom for £12m and deserved a debut goal. But in the end West Brom relied on their Egyptian.

Ahmed Hagazi couldn’t have dreamed of a much better debut so far.

A goal and a clean sheet.

Here is the moment he nodded in Chris Brunt’s pin-point free-kick.

'Delighted' Tony Pulis signs new contract to stay with West Brom until 2019

West Brom head coach Tony Pulis has agreed a contract extension until 2019, the Premier League club have announced.

The former Stoke boss was entering the last year of his contract at the Hawthorns but that has now extended by chairman John Williams for a further season until 2019.

Despite not winning over some sections of Albion support, Pulis has the faith of the club’s new Chinese owners and appointed Gary Megson as his assistant last month.

Pulis, 59, told the West Brom website : “I’m delighted to extend my contract because it continues the stability within the club which is essential for its progress.

“I’ve said all along that we are in a building phase which requires a step by step process.

“I think we’ve seen an improvement all across the club in recent seasons and we must continue that in what is such a tough, tough league.

“Having spoken to John at great length over the summer, we know this club has a direction it needs to follow and we are determined to do that.”
