West Brom remain unbeaten but blew a golden opportunity to continue their 100 % start against rivals Stoke.

The Baggies were on course for a third successive 1-0 win after beating Bournemouth and Burnley. Newboy Jay Rodriguez put them ahead with a fine 61 minute header from Allan Nyom's cross to the back post.

But the hosts were made to pay for missing further chances to kill the game through Ahmed Hegazi and Rodriguez, whose header hit the bar.

And Egyptian stopper Hegazi then gifted Stoke a crucial equaliser for Peter Crouch late on. Hegazi intervened and tried to clear a routine cross which keeper Ben Foster had covered.

The mix up gifted the ball to sub Crouch to net from close range into an unguarded net 13 minutes from time infront of the 2344 away fans.

It was cruel on Albion ,and especially Hegazi, with the hosts untroubled by the visitors for much of the game. Stoke, despite their win over Arsenal, looked very much a work in progress adjusting to a new 3-4-2-1 formation.

Upfront striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting caught the eye with his close control and skills. But he was shunted out wide when Crouch came on as the visitors chased the game and successfully snatched a point.

All square in the end.

West Brom thought they had won it through Rodriguez.

But Crouch saved a point.

Stoppage time

Four minutes of stoppage time at the Hawthorns.

Both side pushing for a winner.

But no one can break through.

West Brom set to lose their 100 per cent win record.

Crouch stat

Amazingly Crouch’s goal was the first West Brom had conceded this season.

Howler to let in as well.

Really poor mix up.

83mins

Rondon heads over.

The striker meets a cross from the left but under pressure from a defender he can’t time his jump.

Still time for a winner here.

Rodriguez celebrates

West Brom were in the lead up until a few moments ago.

Rodriguez netted in the Premier League for the first time for the Baggies.

All level now though.

GOOAAAALLL West Brom 1-1 Stoke (Crouch)

Crouch levels things up.

It is an absolute howler from the West Brom defence.

And Crouch stoops in to nod in.

73mins

West Brom corner comes in from Brunt.

It is very deep and Rodriguez is forced to stretch to get there.

He does get a head to it and the ball loops onto the bar.

Never going to dip in but promising the Baggies are pushing for a second.

GOOOAAAALLLL West Brom 1-0 Stoke (Rodriguez)

That’s woken everyone up.

Jay Rodriguez has his first Premier League gaol for West Brom.

Top cross into the box and the former Southampton flings himself at the ball to head in.

Brave stuff.

West Brom vs Stoke

This one isn’t a Premier League classic.

In fact tell the 20,000 or so in the ground that there will be another version of this game this season they will take the cyanide pill.

At least it is sunny...

Early action

All fairly timid stuff so far.

Stoke thought they should have had a penalty, they shouldn’t and they didn’t.

Probably they game you would expect when Pulis takes on Stoke.

Squad news

Jonny Evans remains a doubt for West Brom as they prepare for Sunday’s visit of Stoke.

Evans, a transfer target for Manchester City, has yet to feature this season because of a hamstring injury and he will continue to be assessed. Fellow centre-half Gareth McAuley (thigh) remains out and striker Hal Robson-Kanu is still suspended.

James Morrison will also be checked on after making his return from injury at Accrington in midweek but the midfielder is expected to be in contention. New signing Oliver Burke could be among the substitutes.

Xherdan Shaqiri remains an injury concern for Stoke ahead of Sunday’s trip to The Hawthorns to face West Brom.

A hamstring problem forced the Switzerland international off midway through the first half of the home win against Arsenal and manager Mark Hughes has said he will give Shaqiri as long as possible to prove his fitness.

Hughes made eight changes for the Carabao Cup tie against Rochdale and the likes of Jack Butland, Ryan Shawcross, Darren Fletcher, Rodriguez Jese and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting are expected to come back into the team.
