Arsene Wenger has insisted Arsenal will NOT be selling Alexis Sanchez this summer.

During a press conference in China, the Gunners boss said: “The decision has been made and we will stick to that. The decision is not to sell.”

Wenger made the definitive statement as he was asked about comments Sanchez had made to Chilean media, about his desire to play in the Champions League. The Frenchman was quick to dismiss the significance of those quotes.

“I don’t give too much importance to things that are translated, you know,” said Wenger. “The whole interview that I got didn't really mean that."

However, we have more than simply quotes - as you can see above, we have the actual video footage of exactly what Sanchez said.

Talking to Radio Sport Chile, the clip shows the Arsenal star admitting his desire to win the Champions League, which he will not be able to do with the Gunners next season.

Linked with a move to Manchester City, Sanchez claimed the ball is now in Arsenal's court.

He had made the trip back to his home town of Tocopilla to visit family and make an appearance at a local football pitch.

Wenger was clearly irked by Sanchez’s remarks about the Champions League - and insisted it was up to him to get Arsenal back into Europe’s top competition after missing out last term.

“The main focus for us is to concentrate on the Premier League and the Premier League for me today is more important than the Champions League.

“We rested sometimes players in the Group stages of the Champions League for the Premier League so that’s become the biggest importance for us.

“For the rest… we played 20 years in the Champions League, that’s 17 years before Sanchez arrived and three years with him so he can get us back in there.”
