Jose Mourinho has been handed a huge injury boost with Antonio Valencia returning to Manchester United training.

The Red Devils right-back has been sidelined with a hamstring injury that he picked up in the clash against West Brom on December 17 and forced him to miss the busy festive period.

But the Ecuadorian has now completed a training session during Manchester United's warm weather break in Dubai as the club look to take advantage of a ten-day gap without a game in their calendar.

Barring any further setbacks Valencia will be available for United's home clash with managerless Stoke City on Monday as they try keep alive any hopes of catching runaway leaders Manchester City.

Valencia was forced off and replaced by Marcos Rojo at the Hawthorns in the second half, as goals from Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard sealed the points for Mourinho's side.

The Red Devils boss claimed Valencia's injury was due to the timing of the season.

“It is a December injury." he said following the game. "Everyone is at risk because of the accumulation, It is normal."

"We need to recover but at the same time we also need to train because during this crazy time we have not had many times to work on details that you want to work on," Mourinho said.
