Arsene Wenger has revealed why he is keeping faith in Arsenal's Costa Rican striker Joel Campbell.

The French boss has hailed the individual quality and the work ethic of the front man, as he prepares for a rare first-team opportunity.

Wenger is set to hand Campbell a start in the Capital One Cup clash at Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday evening, which would be only his fourth appearance of the season.

He previously featured in the win over Tottenham Hotspur in the same competition, as well as in the Champions League defeats to Dinamo Zagreb and Oympiacos.

“I like Joel Campbell very much for two reasons,” Wenger told Arsenal.com.

“One is that he has outstanding individual quality, but he is also a team player. He works very hard for the team.

“I’m convinced he will get a chance here and that he will take it. He has another opportunity against Sheffield Wednesday and I’m hopeful that he will show that he has the quality to play for Arsenal."

Wenger has also hinted that Calum Chambers will be recalled to the first-team for the clash at Hillsborough. He too has not featured for the Gunners since the win over Spurs.

“When you get the chance, you have to be ready," Wenger continued. "To be ready, you have to prepare. I must say that Joel Campbell and Calum Chambers are two players who do absolutely everything right.

“They are prepared, the preparation they have created will give them the confidence against Sheffield Wednesday and I’m confident they will play well.”
