Ligue 1 champions Monaco announced the signing of Rennes striker Adama Diakhaby on a five-year contract on Wednesday night.

The 21-year-old, who can either play centrally or on the wing, scored four goals in 25 appearances last season and will now link up with the likes of Kylian Mbappe.

Due to the position Diakhaby plays, Arsenal fans are adamant the move paves way for Thomas Lemar to join the club.

So far Arsene Wenger has had three bids knocked back for the winger - with the latest rejection coming last week when the Ligue 1 champions refused an offer of £45 million.

The Gunners boss was asked about Lemar after Saturday’s Emirates Cup win against Benfica but was reluctant to discuss the situation.

"We don’t speak about how negotiations go," said the Arsenal boss. "We come out once the deal is done or not done. I can tell you that.

"At the moment there is nothing special to stay on this case.

"We are active on the transfer market in general. I look to strengthen."

Despite Monaco’s determination to keep hold of Lemar, Arsenal continue to believe they can get a deal done for the 21-year-old.

And today’s announcement from France that Diakhaby has joined Leonardo Jardim’s side has certainly got Gunners fans excited - Here’s a selection of what they’ve been saying on social media.
