Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hinted he may rotate his squad for Wednesday's clash with Dinamo Zagreb.

The Gunners have travelled to Croatia for their opening Champions League group game, and some of the club's fringe players could be given a run out.

Mikel Arteta, who has been reduced to a bit-part player despite bing the club captain, is one player thought to be in line for a start.

Per Mertesacker is out of the clash after crashing his car on the M1 earlier this week while Hector Bellerin and Aaron Ramsey were left in England to give them a rest.

“It is more the global programme we have to absorb in the next three weeks, rather than one game,” Wenger said.

“I knew since I [found out] our schedule that I have a squad of 20 players, all experienced and every decision I make is very difficult.

“It is quite easy to change two or three players, [more] than it was in years before because they are all at a very good level.

“I know the same team cannot play every single game over the next three weeks. I try to keep the balance right and give a little breather to players who need it.”
