Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has been left out of Germany's squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Northern Ireland and Azerbaijan.
The World Cup winner joins Mario Gotze and Sami Khedira in being exiled from the group who are bidding to secure the Germans' place in next year's tournament in Russia.
Ozil has come under fire for his displays both last season and at the start of the current campaign, which looks likely to be his last with the Gunners.
The 28-year-old is out of contract in north London next summer and is yet to put pen to paper on fresh terms.
He has played five times so far this term but was benched for Monday's win over West Brom having suffered knee inflammation earlier in the week.
Germany boss Joachim Low said: "With Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira, I assume that they will be better rested during the international break.
"This is more important to them at the moment. What is crucial to us is that our players are in peak condition next year. "
Ozil's teammate Shkodran Mustafi is in the squad, along with fellow Premier League stars including Emre Can and Leroy Sane.
Germany need just a point to secure their place in Russia and travel to Belfast next Thursday.
