Wojciech Szczesny is on a mission to shut out Norwich this weekend - and win the Golden Glove.

Arsenal goalkeeper Szczesny is currently level on 16 Premier League clean sheets with Chelsea’s Petr Cech this season.

The Poland international can beat Cech, who is out with a dislocated shoulder, by blanking the Canaries on the final weekend of the campaign

Szczesny said: “I must admit it was in my head for the last 10 or 15 minutes of the [West Brom] game and I didn’t want to concede.

“We’ve had a fantastic defensive record at home and we kept it going here. That’s something that we want to keep next season. If I win the Golden Glove I would love it.”

The Gunners are confident that Laurent Koscielnywill sign a new contract this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have both been linked with the French international, but Arsenal hope that the former Lorient man will follow in the footsteps of Per Mertesacker, Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Tomas Rosicky in inking a new deal.

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender has revealed that he plans to stay with the Bundesliga side this summer.

The 25-year-old had been identified as Arsene Wenger's top target for the summer window, with the Gunners' boss eager to add some physical presence to his midfield.

But Bender is quoted as saying: "I signed my new contract until 2019, and that should have told everyone how happy I am at Leverkusen.

"I feel settled here and see no reason to change anything."

And ahead of the FA Cup final, Per Mertesacker has called for Arsene Wenger's men to keep focused and to build momentum with a win against Norwich this weekend.

Wednesday's Arsenal news from other newspapers and websites

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal and Manchester City have made enquiries over Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez.

The former Athletic Bilbao star has been one of the big losers at the Allianz Arena since Pep Guardiola's arrival, having lost his starting midfield spot where he starred under former boss Jupp Heynckes.

Instead, the versatile Spanish international has been used as more of a stop-gap by Guardiola, filling in for other players when absent, rather than being assured of his own starting role.

And German newspaper Bild has quoted Martinez as saying that life under Guardiola is "not as I'd imagined it."

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Arsenal were close to signing Eden Hazard - before being gazumped by Chelsea.

Speaking on BeIN Sports, Wenger revealed that Hazard's agent was at his house as Arsenal looked to sign the player from Lille, whilst declaring that the Belgian can develop to be on the level of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the future if he continues to progress.

"Yes, I wanted to take him, I had his agent at my home but again the barrier was financial and Chelsea made an effort that I couldn’t make," said Wenger.

"He can be one of the players who grows into the Messi, Ronaldo stature if he continues to develop well."

Burnley full-back Kieran Trippier has opened talks to stay with the Clarets - despite rumoured interest from Arsenal and other Premier League sides.

The 23-year-old has a year left on his current deal at Turf Moor, having been watched by the Gunners and others in recent weeks.

However, after a year where he was named in the Championship's PFA Team of the Year, Trippier is remaining tight-lipped over his future.

"I'm happy at Burnley; I'm 10 minutes away, close to my family and friends, so we'll see what happens," Trippier is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
