Arsenal are not interested in signing Arturo Vidal because they already have plenty of good central midfielders, according to Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman admitted as much following the Gunners FA Cup final triumph over Aston Villa.

When asked about the Juventus midfielder, he replied: “Arturo Vidal? You must be from Chile!"

"We have good midfielders and at the moment we are not looking at Arturo Vidal."

The Gunners are well stocked in the centre of the park with Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin, Mathieu Flamini and captain Mikel Arteta all competing for places, not to mention a number of young stars coming through the ranks.

Wenger was coy when quizzed about how much money he has to spend this summer, but insisted he would be prepared to spend if the right players became available.

"I do not want to tell you how much money we have," said Wenger. "But I have not made a clear decision yet for what I will do.

“Don’t rule anything out and I will not tell you as well how much money we will spend. But I’m always more focused on quality.

“I am not against spending money. I have shown that recently.”
