Arsene Wenger has received some welcome positive news ahead of Arsenal's trip to Watford.

The Gunners were dealt a major blow during the international break after Shkodran Mustafi suffered a hamstring problem.

But there is also good news on the injury front, with Laurent Koscielny set to feature despite struggling with an ongoing Achilles problem.

The Frenchman is expected to start in the centre of a back three against the Hornets, with Nacho Monreal and Rob Holding either side.

And in a further boost to Arsene Wenger, Sead Kolasinac is also set to be involved with Mesut Ozil and Danny Welbeck returning to full training this week.

Could Arsenal let Ozil and Sanchez go in January

In our situation, we have envisaged every solution.

It is possible.

Wenger confirms no deadline has been set on the duo making a decision.

Christmas Eve clash?

I know that we have to adapt to the schedule dictating by TV.

If that happens, I think no game should be played after 2pm.

I would prefer to be at home on Christmas night and celebrating.

I still feel that could happen if we play early.

You wouldn’t want to sacrifice your evening with your family.

But that isn’t considered any more. People want to watch football during the Christmas period.

Merson coming out of retirement?

I speak about professional football.

Do England need Wilshere?

Of course.

Jack is more of a No.10 than any other player.

He can play in tight areas.

On international injuries

You would still lose players at the start.

It would make more sense to regroup the competitions during one period.

At the moment, the big leagues are a bit stop and start.

It interrupts the flow of the competition and the players are under huge pressure when they are with their countries.

Defensive concerns

I have concerns.

I will decide tomorrow what I will do after Koscielny has a test.

He has no pain on his Achilles but I will make a decision.

Overmars back to Arsenal

We have always been in touch but he’s Director of Football at Ajax.

It is not happening at the moment.

On Wilshere's WC chances

I believe Jack is in the best form for a long time.

He is very close to be considered like everyone else.

He doesn’t need to leave Arsenal to go to the World Cup.

If he plays like he is at the moment, I think he will go to the World Cup.

He has played games for us and he will play many more.

Latest on Ozil situation

It is my understanding [that he wants to stay].

I hope the situation can be turned around.

At the moment, we are not close enough to announce anything.

Motivation for Sanchez without World Cup

Him, like Aaron Ramsey, they are winners.

They want to focus on winning things.

When you don’t have the World Cup, you focus on your club.

On Sanchez's mental state

I will have to speak to him.

Yesterday, I watched the whole game and I must say he got some special treatment.

It was very physical and mentally I will have to assess the situation.

Injury latest

Arsene Wenger has confirmed Shkodran Mustafi is out for four to six weeks.

The German defender picked up the thigh injury during the international break.

Wenger also confirms Laurent Koscielny is a doubt this weekend.

Koscielny has a final test tomorrow.

He is not available at the moment.

He trained on his own and the first signs are positive.

Latest on Kolasinac

Arsenal suffered a huge injury blow when Shkodran Mustafi went down with a thigh injury whilst playing for Germany and there appeared to be more doom and gloom.

Sead Kolasinac only managed 45 minutes for Bosnia and Herzegovina, which would have had Arsene Wenger fearing the worst.

Saturday’s trip to Watford now presents a dilemma without the Germany centre-back but there is better news surrounding Kolasinac’s condition, report football.london.

However, despite concerns over the summer signing, it may not be all that bad for Wenger and the team.

According to reports from the player’s home country, there is no suggestion in the press that Kolasinac is actually injured.

Welcome

The end of the international break is bringing the Premier League back into focus, and so inevitably Arsenal aren’t far from people’s minds.

And it seems as though former Gunners star Paul Merson has got a plan for the North Londoners to win the Premier League.

It just isn’t a plan that anyone seems to agree with.

Speaking on Sky One’s comedy sports panel show A League Of Their Own, Merson claimed that if only Arsene Wenger was more like ex-Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp, the Gunners would be in with a chance of glory.

“People say he’s a wheeler-dealer and it’s so disrespectful,” said Merson, who played under both Wenger and Redknapp during his career.

“Tactically, he’s one of the best I’ve worked with. If Arsene Wenger had Harry Redknapp’s tactical nous, Arsenal would win the league.”
